The Fast Metabolism Diet Fresh Herbs

Herbs certainly do play a great role in our healthy life. They make our foods delicious, as well as heal our body. On top of it all, herbs aren’t expensive to buy. You can just plant it in your garden as they’re easy to grow. That’s why herbs have a weight in The Fast Metabolism Diet and is always recommended in cooking throughout the program. Let’s get to know more about these awesome herbs as we’ll be seeing a lot of them in the whole FMD program.

1.  Basil
With the fresh aroma of Basil, it calms and soothes our nerves and detoxifies our liver.  Try other unique flavors of basil like the purple opal basil, tiny-leaved Greek basil and citrusy lemon basil. Take note: Don’t refrigerate basil as it turns the leaves black. You can enjoy basil with homemade phase 1 pesto.
2.   Parsley
Parsley has a lot of vitamins like vitamin K, A and C. What makes parsley a superstar for your health are the volatile oils and flavonoids. It helps detoxify your body of carcinogens and help reduce blood sugar levels.  Parsley stars in Creamy Tuna Salad in Phase 3.
3.    Cilantro
            Cilantro revs up your digestive enzymes like Parsley. That’s why we are using these two herbs in Phase 1 to let your body eat with healthy foods! Be sure that it is fresh when you buy it because it is pretty perishable.  Cilantro can be included in Mexican, Asian and Indian food.  You can use cilantro in Cultured Super Salsa in Phase 1 and 3.

4.    Mint
         As we all know, mint is a digestive superstar! Mint treats irritable bowel syndrome, soothes stomach in cases of indigestion or inflammation.  Its strong and refreshing aroma is an effective remedy for nausea, clearing up the congestion of nose, throat bronchi and lungs. It is also a powerful antioxidant herb that relieves depression and fatigue.

5.     Rosemary
Rosemary fights cancer cells and protect blood vessels from damage that could trigger heart attack. Rosemary is used to treat indigestion. Studies also show that rosemary helped people perform better in memory tests and prevent brain aging.

6.    Oregano
Oregano is rich in Vitamin K that promotes bone growth, maintenance of bone density and the production of blood clotting proteins. It also has dietary antioxidants and antimicrobial ability. Oregano has an anti-inflammatory property that can possibly be use against osteoporosis.  Oregano is famous in Italian and Greek cuisine but can be use in Mexican food too.  Try stirring oregano with your chili, taco meat, or black bean soup.



Herbs really do great in our body with its stunning health benefits. So be sure to include it in your fast metabolism diet to achieve a healthier body and healthier life.
