The Fast Metabolism Diet Recall Alert! Almond and Peanut butter salmonella contamination

fast metabolism diet

For the fast metabolism dieters who are using almond butters please be aware of this notice

nSpired Natural Foods, a major provider of nut butters, issued a voluntary recall of peanut butters and almond butters for possible salmonella contamination. Four people from four different states (namely, Connecticut, Iowa, Tennessee and Texas) were reported to be infected with Salmonella linked to peanut and almond butter products. The bacteria were found during inspections of the facility in Ashland, OR.  Three of the four persons were interviewed and all three of them reported eating brand peanut or almond butter products produced by nSpired Natural Foods. As of now one ill person has been hospitalized and no death has been reported. Salmonella can be life-threatening especially to infants, older people, pregnant women and those who have weak immune systems. Its common symptoms are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever. It can develop between 8 to 72 hours after consumption.

The recalled butters sold in both glass and plastic jars can be identified by their lot numbers and “best buy dates” ranging from December 2014 to July 2015. U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that consumers do not eat any of the recalled products including Safeway, Arrowhead Mills, Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and MaraNatha brands. You can find the complete list here. For consumers who already bought almond and peanut butter products, you don’t have to head back to the store where you purchased to return it. You can give them a call at 1-800-937-7008 for replacement or refund. Some of this almond butter works for the fast metabolism diet program, if you happen to buy these products, please call for a refund.
